Near the Crabtree Creek and Neuse River crossings, the 64 bypass and and a branch of the Norfolk Southern Railway are close to one another. This branch of the Norfolk Southern Railway runs from Raleigh heading east through Knightdale, Wendell, Zebulon, Middlesex, Bailey, Wilson, Greenville to Morehead City.
