The Tower at WA4BPJ

My tower is 72 feet of Rohn 25G guyed at 3 levels with 1/4" EHS cable. The guys are attached at each end with twist grips. The top set attaches to the tower through torque arms. The base is a 6' tower section in 4' of concrete 2' square. The legs project through the bottom of the concrete midway into a 6" gravel base for drainage. There's 21' of 2" galvanized schedule 80 mast nested at the top. This will be extended when the yagi's are ready. Presently, the tower is supporting the center of an off center fed dipole (Such a waste!). Its overall length is about 160 feet. About 65' is over the house to a tree in the front yard with the rest to a tree behind the house.

Grounding

The ground system comprises 13 ground rods and about 300' of solid 6 guage copper. There is a set of rods around the tower base, and rod at each guy anchor pole. The remaining rods are distributed along the radial ground wires that run between the tower base and each guy anchor pole. The system is also bonded to the houses electrical service ground at the meter. The radial ground wires travel up each anchor pole and are split bolt connected to each of the guy wires above the turnbuckles.

72 feet to the top. Ladder line visible to the right about 2 feet away from the tower feeds the dipole.

Details of a guy anchor post. These are about 6 feet high and 5 feet in the ground. You can see the ground bonding to the guys above the turnbuckles. That's 6 gauge copper.

A side view. What's missing?

Another view sighting up the guys. The side arm is visible at the top. It's 3" X 3" aluminum angle about 3' long.

The Wilson Yagi project. This is 6 elements for 20, 15 and 10 meters. Destined for the tower later this year.
